We’re following along with the Faith in Kids podcast in Ephesians.
Ephesians #9 BE SOLDIERS
Grab some shoes, a cushion, a coat, a belt, a stick and a hat as Ed and Jam find out the war that’s been raging for thousands of years, and what armour we need to be soldiers to fight that war and stand our ground.
Planning when to do this
Hopefully you’ve getting into the swing of things now. For more thoughts on how and when to use these ideas, see the intro from a few week’s ago.

CRAFT IDEAS
There are eight ideas below, four for under 11s and four for over 11s. Feel free to use any that you think will serve you will.
Use the crafts and colouring sheets while you listen to the podcast (make sure you’ve got the materials you need first!). And use them to reinforce the teaching ideas.
The printable sheet for this week is here, page 7 onwards if for over 11s.
All the instructions below are also included on the sheet – if you’d prefer just to hit print and then stop looking at screen, go ahead!
Here are Ed’s discussion questions:
Under 5s.
5-7s
8-11s
Over 11s
Idea 1 – Craft 1
Colour and carefully cut out the man and the pieces of armour on page 1 of the printable sheet. As you dress the man in the Armour of God, can you say what each piece represents? Look in the Bible in Ephesians 6:11-18 to see if you’re right.
Idea 2 – Craft 2
Print page 2 of the printable sheet onto card and follow the instructions.
Idea 3 – Armour of God Bingo Game
Print page 3 and page 4 of the printable sheet – one for each player. Now take it in turns to roll a dice and place a counter/button/piece of card or paper onto the piece of armour that goes with the number you have rolled. Can you say what that piece of armour represents? If you roll the same number again, miss a go.
The first person to have a counter on all their pictures is the winner!
Idea 4 – The Shield of Faith
Print page 5 and page 6 of the printable sheet and colour the shield.
The Bible tells us that we need to use the Shield of Faith to put out the fiery arrows that Satan fires at us.
Can you think of some of the things that Satan does to try and hurt our faith in Jesus? – for example – he tells us lies about God.
Use the arrows on page 5 to write some of your ideas on. You could colour them and add some fiery flames, then cut them out and stick them to your Shield of Faith.
Spend some time together talking to Jesus about the things that you have thought of. Ask Him to help you use your faith as a shield against the lies that Satan tells us. Ask Jesus to help you use all the pieces of armour that He has given us to protect us.
